Take a trip to Mondello Park near Naas, (just 20 miles from Athy), Ireland’s only international motor racing circuit.  Motor sport enthusiasts can watch some of the most exciting car manufactured today race on the challenging Mondello circuit.

FESTIVALS

The Barrow is the second longest river in Ireland.  It is navigable for 69km (45 miles) between Athy and St. Mullins, and this stretch is known as the Barrow Navigation.  In Athy, the Grand Canal system links the Barrow navigation with Dublin and the Shannon.

RIVER BARROW & CANAL WALKS

The Canal beside the angling centre of Vicarstown (only 5 miles from Athy) has Bream and Rudd, Eel, Pike and Hybrids.  Further towards Athy, there are some Tench up to 6lb while the Barrow also contains some course fish along with Salmon and Brown Trout.

FISHING

Visit The Curragh, home of the Irish Derby, Punchestown for the famous Irish National Hunt Festival in April and Naas and Gowran Park have excellent facilities and all offer visitors a wonderful choice of racing.

HORSERACING

There are numerous Golf Courses located close by including Athy Golf Course, Rathsallagh,

Kilkea Golf Course, The Heritage and The K-Club is approx 30 minutes away.
